RYBKI

Rybki, also known as Merfolk in the common tongue, are a unique race of beings possessing both human and fish-like characteristics. They are born in water and their natural environment is the sea. However, they have evolved in a way that allows them to live both on land and in water, with their tails splitting into two to let them walk on land.

Rybki is a shy race, often staying close to coasts or their tribes in the water. They are most commonly found in deep ocean regions, and those that stem from a race of deep ocean sea creatures are rarely seen surfacing. This elusiveness and secrecy make the Rybki view themselves as one of the more ancient and arcane races.

Despite their ability to live on land, not many Rybki venture far from their aquatic homes. This has unfortunately led to illegal hunting of Merfolk in the world, especially those of the deep sea race. The Rybki are highly intelligent and resourceful creatures, making valuable contributions to society. However, due to their rarity and unique qualities, they are often discriminated against and hunted for their perceived value.

Ability Score: Constitution +2 Intelligence +1

Age: Merfolk follows a similar life cycle to fish or other ocean creatures, however after growing into an 'adult' growth stage at 3 years old, the 'body' starts emerging from the body's mouth till it gradually grows into a Merfolk with a tale. I stole the idea from this. By age 10, the Merfolk is able to perform Aquatic Adaptation, before that they need to stay in the water to survive. Merfolk from then on has a life expectancy of 60.

Alignment: Merfolk tend to stray to the lawful side of things, due to their 'flow of life' mindset and prefer to stray to rules to not upset the 'tides'.

Size: Merfolk size tends to vary, staying on the small to medium size, however, some instances can be large depending on species.

Speed: Your base walking speed is 25 feet. You also have a swimming speed of 35 feet.

Aquatic Adaptation: 

The aquatic adaptation ability of the Rybki is a remarkable feat of evolution that allows them to live both in water and on land. Born as a creature that can breathe and swim effortlessly in the water, the Rybki have evolved over time to adapt their bodies to life on land as well. Unlike the typical mermaid tales of fairy tales and myths, their tails split into two and transform into legs, while their upper body still retains their fish-like features such as scales and fins.

This ability allows the Rybki to explore beyond the depths of the ocean and interact with other races on land without the need for constant water. However, it is important to note that this adaptation is not a permanent change, as the Rybki revert back to their original form when in contact with water, however, this is when water comes in contact with skin, and drinking water or inhaling moist items is no problem. 

When in water you have a speed of 35ft and can talk and use weapons and magic the same as on land.

The aquatic adaptation ability is a testament to the resilience and adaptability of the Rybki race, allowing them to thrive in both aquatic and terrestrial environments. 

Religion: Merfolk are a highly spiritual and mystical race, and place large importance on the worship and belief in the Lord of the Depths Sang Saka Biru.

Vision: Accustomed to living under the darkness of the ocean, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern colour in darkness, only shades of grey.

Elemental power: Rybki are locked to Hydro.

Names: Under the water, Rybki can talk, however wild Rybki prefer not to and communicate in Ryba. Ryba to a common ear sounds like smacking lips, making random sounds etc, under the water this translates to a series of quiet, echoing sounds that are best understood in the deep quiet dark of the ocean. Rybki have a name in such a way first and adopt a land name depending on the culture they were raised on the land.

Physical appearance:
