This could also refer to the split of the Elves as single people into their own peoples that are different based on their view on regaining their immortality back. the Drow thought they could bargain with their immortality back. The High Elves thought they could make their own immortality and didn't need the power of the gods. The mountain elves thought they were being punished and fled.
