Nakarta

Capital City of Averia, along the western sea front. A tall city slowly sliding into the ocean, but continues to build upward. Lifted the entire  city by 20 feet about fifteen years ago, leaving behind an entire network of tunnels built to flood during high tide that has become labelled the Underground.

Nakarta is lead democratically by a board of people, with seats determined by how many people live in each district. The city itself has a hard ban on guns, but that hasn't stopped actual weapons from getting into the city. While 90% of the population is unarmed, many of either the elite or shady have a  fire arm of some variety.

Nakarta was the first city in Averia to recognize androids as  people after  the original military project leaked to the public, and is home to several companies that cater just to android needs.

Nakarta has publicly funded healthcare, education,  housing and is able to give its citizens a living wage due  to the excess in tourism the city gains every year.

Nakarta is prone to acid rains, especially during the spring, and while most city streets (especially in the heart of the city) have nets and filters to prevent the water from causing  harm to its citizens,  those farther out or closer to the old docks do not get  this treatment.

Androids have only been part of the public within the last four or five years, as the Averian military started creating them. The project aimed to give them emotions and the ability to understand morality, but due to abusive members of the military, several androids snapped. Two escaped and the third went on a rampage through the military base, leading one of the engineers on the project to leak it to the public.

In turn for the project getting leaked, all other androids that were produced were given their own citizenship (though this has been met with some pushback). One of these androids, Dae-ya, currently owns the Sunfire Corporation, maintaining and producing all parts androids currently use. Countless androids have been made since the incident, including Nisha. Nisha is a model and social advocate, being seen as an incredibly friendly and sweet personality to help keep public sentiment in androids favor.

In the last two years, tech has made significant strides in copying a human’s memories and personality into a viewable format and even copying a person into an android body. This tech is still incredibly experimental, and has no plans to be sold as a product for at least another three or four years, but leading company MemoraTech has shown promising results to investors.
