Born to a small duke and duchess, being the second child Izel was born very sickly. They’ve always struggled with their health, but in their late teens Izel got incredibly sick. At the time medicine could do nothing, so their parents reached out to something beyond the veil between humanity and not.
Izel was displeased, angry with becoming a vampire. They’re hungry all the time, it makes them upset and hurts their chest. It made them run away, hide from the person they loved and move on from their old life. Of course, Izel was eventually picked up by a much stronger vampire.
Atarah saw use in the sickness that still affects Izel. A poison, a toxin to use against her enemies. Over time she got tired of keeping Izel alive and tossed them out, leaving them to die. Luck would happen upon them, as a wizard named Morrah saved their life.
Over time Morrah trained Izel in their blood magic and commissioned someone to make a type writer with braille on the keys so Izel could continue writing poetry. Izel and Morrah eventually grew apart due to Morrah’s intense personality and insistence on studying Izel’s illness.
Izel still uses the type writer but refuses to cast magic. They work as a bartender on their better days, though they’ve grown to hate the smell of alcohol. They rely on braille labels on the bottles, and even label all of the halls and doors in their house.
Izel owns a seeing eye dog named Bruno, a very sweet dog, but Izel gets frustrated taking Bruno out with them because people try to distract Bruno all the time. The giant ‘seeing eye dog’ vest often isnt enough for people. Izel also isn’t fond of how people treat them, assuming Izel is actually sighted when Izel is just very practiced at getting around.
