The first Dwarven Hold of Mistwall was established by the settlers who arrived on the ships Moradins Will and Dumatoins Leap. The dwarves quickly recognized the strategic importance of the fjord, with its natural defenses and abundant resources. They built sturdy homes and fortifications, utilizing the natural stone and timber available in the area. The dwarves also constructed a grand hall within the cave where Moradins Will was placed, which served as the central meeting place for the community.
As the settlement grew, the dwarves focused on mining the rich veins of ore found in the surrounding mountains, including iron, gold, and copper. They also established a network of trade routes with neighboring kingdoms, exporting their goods and importing much-needed supplies.
The first king of Mistwall, chosen by the dwarven council, was a wise and just leader named "the seahammer" Gunbar Steelheart the old Governor of Mistwall. He oversaw the growth and development of the hold, and his descendants continued to rule for many generations. Mistwall became known for its skilled craftsmen, fierce fishermen, and vibrant culture.
Despite facing challenges such as raiding parties from nearby orc tribes and tensions with neighboring kingdoms, Mistwall remained a strong and prosperous hold. Its dwarves continued to honor their heritage and traditions, while also adapting to the changing world around them. Today, Mistwall is one of the few remaining dwarven holds in the Bador mountainss, and its people remain fiercely proud of their history and accomplishments.
The hold is home to many skilled craftsmen, including blacksmiths, stonemasons, and jewelers. The dwarves of Mistwall are renowned for their metalworking, creating intricate weapons and armor that are highly sought after throughout the region. The hold also boasts a large fleet of fishing vessels, with the dwarves using their expert knowledge of the sea to catch a wide variety of fish.
Mistwall's culture is deeply tied to the sea and the mountains, with many traditional songs and stories celebrating the bravery and resilience of the dwarven people. The hold also hosts many festivals and celebrations throughout the year, including the Feast of the Sea, which honors the god Moradin and the bountiful harvests of the sea.
Despite its isolation, Mistwall has maintained a strong relationship with its neighboring holds, often sending delegations to the meetings at Dover's Hall. The dwarves of Mistwall are fiercely independent, but they recognize the importance of working together to protect their homeland and their way of life.
