The Dwarven Holds of Bador were once thriving and prosperous communities, known for their skill in crafting, mining, and engineering. The five holds were built into the Bador mountainss and were interconnected through a series of trading tunnels and passages. The dwarves of Bador were proud and independent, but they also valued unity and cooperation among their kind.
However, the death of the High King 800 years ago marked the beginning of a decline for the dwarven holds. Without a strong central leader to guide them, the dwarves of Bador began to squabble among themselves, with each hold vying for power and resources. The economic struggles faced by the dwarves were exacerbated by political unrest and tensions with neighboring kingdoms.
Today, only three of the five holds still stand: Icemeet, Rusthome, and Mistwall. Each hold has its own distinct culture and traditions, shaped by its unique location within the mountains and its history of interactions with other races and kingdoms. The remaining holds are no longer unified under a single leader, but instead each has its own king who governs according to their own interests.
Despite the challenges facing the dwarven holds, many dwarves remain hopeful for the future. They hold onto their strong sense of community and pride in their heritage, and they continue to work tirelessly to rebuild and revitalize their once-great civilizations. The meeting between equals at [[the Moot]] every 10th year within the High King's ancient halls serves as a reminder of the dwarves' shared history and the importance of cooperation and unity in the face of adversity.
