Zarus, the former god of humans, Domination, and perfection, now exists as a shadow of his former divine self. After using much of his power to aid Edencross during the Glowfall Cataclysm, he found himself trapped in The Glowfall bog, cut off from his planar realm, domains, and followers. As a result, other gods claimed his former domains and his influence waned.
Having been freed from his entrapment by the Champions of the Ankh Zarus emerged as a changed deity, his once unyielding beliefs and ambitions tempered by his own trials and experiences. No longer fixated solely on human supremacy, he has adopted a more nuanced perspective, becoming somewhat open to other races and cultures. This change may stem from a desire to gain new followers, a hidden sinister agenda, or a genuine shift in consciousness brought on by his transformative ordeal.
Though largely forgotten and with few remaining followers, Zarus still maintains a watchful eye over the ambitions and aspirations of humanity. He quietly works behind the scenes, thwarting the plans of the other divines who wronged him, while subtly guiding those who still have faith in his ideals. His presence is elusive, often disguised or hidden from the scrutiny of the wider pantheon.
Zarus's divine powers have diminished, and his connection to the mortal world is tenuous. Yet, he remains a deity of intrigue and subtle manipulation. He seeks to reclaim his former glory and regain the followers he lost, drawing them back to his cause through promises of human potential, personal ambition, and the pursuit of perfection.
While his ultimate goals may be shrouded in mystery, Zarus continues to walk among mortals, observing and influencing events from the shadows. His presence serves as a reminder that even diminished gods can harbor great power and influence, and that the course of destiny can be shaped by even the most overlooked and forgotten divinities
