Cloudrest Keep is an impressive fortress that towers over the rest of Lonepeak. It is built from dark stone that seems to absorb the light around it, giving it an ominous appearance. The main gate of the keep is made from thick ironwood, reinforced with steel bands and spikes. The gate is flanked by two towers, each one manned by archers who keep watch over the surrounding area.
Inside the keep, the Great Hall is a vast chamber that can hold hundreds of people at once. The walls are lined with banners and shields, displaying the various symbols of the previous Jarl's. The floors are made from polished granite, and a huge hearth sits at the far end of the hall, where a massive fire burns day and night.
The Jarl's personal quarters are located in the upper levels of the keep, overlooking the rest of the city. The quarters are decorated with furs, tapestries, and other symbols of wealth and power. The bed is a massive four-poster, made from the polished wood of an ancient tree that once grew on the slopes of Lonepeak.
The back gate of the keep leads to a winding trail that climbs up the mountain to the sacred arena. The trail is narrow and treacherous, and only the most skilled climbers dare to make the ascent. At the top of the trail, the arena is a circular space surrounded by a ring of standing stones. It is said that this is where the first Jarl of Lonepeak battled a Frost Giant for control of the mountain, and that the stones are infused with the magic of that long-ago battle.
