This crystal lens is held in a frame like a magnifying glass. Looking through it reveals the presence of magic as though the detect magic spell were in effect. In addition, if you are a wizard copying a spell into your spellbook, using a mage lens halves the length of time for the process (i.e. 1 hour instead of 2 hours).
