Xaryndarian Calendar

1 Snow melt, 1

The days of the week in the Great Skies (and the Xaryxian Empire in particular) are named for the various kinds of metallic dragons that once roamed the Skies before the death of Io and the loss of the Spheres of Concordance. It is believed that Xaryndarian and it's companion moon Amalthea were two mated dragons that died from the death of Io yet still refused to be separated and will continue their dance into eternity, (a planet with no moons or too many will be immensely unstable):

Sunday (Brassus - Named for Brass Dragons): Holy day to honor the Light of Xaryxis, for prayer or storytelling and visiting shrines and temples.

Moonday (Silvaras - Named for Silver Dragons): The night between sunday and moonday is also holy and spent with cherished family and friends, dedicated to gods and godesses associated with the night and celestial bodies. Come daylight, it's the first workday of the week.

Toilday (Chromas - Named for Chromatic Dragons): Workday without any other particular embellishments other than personal ambition.

Wealthday (Aureas - Named for Gold Dragons): workday, but also the day when wages are paid, shops do inventory, merchants count their earnings etc. It was originally called "Wealday", with weal being an old word for welfare, fortune and riches. However, Wealthday seems more easily understood.

Truceday (Birans - Named for Bronze Dragons): Workday, considered a lucky day for making promises, agreements and swearing oaths. Originally called Oathday.

Fairday (Cupras - Named for Copper Dragons): Generally also a workday, but also the main market day. The well-to-do take the day off to visit the markets, while merchants and stall-owners bring out their best wares, and street performers are more commonly seen, especially in larger cities. Originally called Fireday, but the new name seemed more apt.

Starday (Platis - Named for the great platinum Dragon): Day of rest, no business is conducted.
