Lucius Goodfellow drowned in his penthouse with everything he could of ever wanted. He personified "its not what you know but who you know". In the business world he was famous in the 90's for being the king of hostile take overs and made more than any one man could spend. What he had in business acumen in spades he lacked in humanity. In the end even the most bloated of tick that made up his everchanging entourage couldn't stand him and eventually left him. The night the gates of the Abyss cracked open Timyru was drawn to the brokenness that he had found in himself and breathed life once again.
The world of the Fallen was in complete chaos. Some choose to capitalize on the moment and revert to their power hungry ways and forced the weak under their boots. Others sought understanding of today by understand the old world. Others sought to see the good still in humanity that they fell for. Goodfellow sought his identity in most factions trying to find his way but ten years ago all but withdrew from the Fallen world. He began operating strictly through intermediaries and from the shadows. To powerful to be called before any court but also to powerful to be left unnoticed. He roams the world seemingly without a care in the world.
The characters meet him in a time of great need. He happened to show up and offer a solution to maybe the greatest need they had ever had till then. a deal was struck and a favor was owed. You weren't the first probably not the last. Cryptics will tell you that he has a artifact that make his deals binding in a divine way and those who break them burn from the inside out with the fire of Creation.
