Basilius Rex was the Deity of control and tyranny. They lay the seeds and impart motives on mortals to enact their machinations over millennia, and seek to maintain their position as God King amongst the Rivers in the Deities. As the ascribed leader of the Rivers, they most outwardly embodied the mindset of "survival of the fittest" and "nature over nurture."

In the Tower, Basilius Rex resided as the lord of the 9th circle, the Archdevil of Betrayal presiding over Barathrum. Their synecdoche (part representing their whole) appeared as a hell hound with dark fur, the upper portion of their snout and head being exposed bone and go by Rex. They spoke confidently and agreeably with those they respected (those who displayed great feats of power, most commonly known to be defeating a dragon).
They make their position as Archdevil of Betrayal no secret, presenting facts and conclusions clearly to intelligent beings and allowing them to freely debate so as to assuage any misgivings for dealing with him. They paid no mind to anyone who treated them with hostility: only lying and intention to betray would get one in Rex's bad graces.
