Welcome to Whispers Beyond Worlds! This shared D&D universe was established by Peter and Henry Fitts, and is inhabited by many old and new friends. This world has grown since 2019, built mainly upon published D&D canon material. From classic Forgotten Realms settings, to the furthest corners of the cosmos, all of these epic adventures take place in one multiverse!
We hope Kanka can be a tool for both DMs and players flex their creative muscles to build out character backstories, visualize relationships, and expand upon the lore that brings this world to life.

What should players do here?
- Create an entity for your character! Review the character creation instructions below
- Read session recaps under Journals
- Read more detail on the places, organizations, and characters featured in the story
- Create entities for places, organizations, and characters from the published canon. However, stay away from Waterdeep spoilers elsewhere on the internet!
How are things organized?
- Click the >> arrows at the top left of the window to open the sidebar with the list the different types of "entities"
- Click an entity type to view the corresponding list.
- Organizations and Locations lists are "nested". For example, the Sword Coast region would be nested under the planet Toril. Click anywhere except the name to view the next level down of nested records. The technical term is "children" of the "parent" record.
- You can create a hyperlink to any existing entity by typing @ and then the entity name. Other fields like character's race will have a dropdown to search/select from existing entites of that type.
- The character backstories section are collapsed by default. Click the section heading to expand it.
Character Creation Instructions
Use the New Character Template!
- Navigate to the Characters entities section in the left sidebar
- Find the dropdown arrow next the "+" button at the top right
- Click "New Character Template" from the dropdown
- Fill out the sections/fields, and don't forget the extra tabs up top near the save button!
- If needed, you can set the backstory sharing permissions to private to hide it from other players. Begin editing backstory entry and see the lock icon at the top.
