Reidoth the Druid

In the depths of an ancient and foreboding forest, there lived a druid named Reidoth. Known for his insatiable curiosity and deep connection to the natural world, Reidoth spent his days exploring the mysteries of the wilderness. His quest for knowledge led him to uncover the legend of the Gulthias Tree, a vampiric tree born from the remains of a defeated power vampire lord.

Long ago, a powerful vampire lord had terrorized the land, sapping the life force from the living and spreading darkness wherever it went. A coalition of brave adventurers, including a skilled vampire hunter, managed to defeat the vampire lord in a fierce battle. As a final act, the vampire hunter crafted a wooden stake infused with powerful magic, a stake capable of absorbing the vampiric essence that once fueled the undead tyrant.

Instead of destroying the stake, the vampire hunter, recognizing its potential, planted it in the heart of the forest where the vampire lord's lair had once stood. Over time, the stake absorbed the dark energies of the defeated vampire, transforming into the Gulthias Tree. The tree's bark turned a deep crimson, and its leaves took on a blood-red hue, marking the fusion of natural and vampiric energies.

Reidoth, drawn by tales of this mysterious tree, sought it out in his quest for understanding the secrets of life and death. The Gulthias Tree, sensing the druid's thirst for knowledge and power, awakened and spoke to him. It offered Reidoth the chance to delve into the mysteries of creation and life in exchange for a pact. Eager to unlock the secrets hidden within the essence of the vampiric tree, Reidoth agreed.

In a dark and ancient ritual, the Gulthias Tree granted Reidoth the powers of undeath. As the vampiric energies flowed through him, Reidoth's once vibrant appearance transformed into that of a lich. His eyes glowed with an otherworldly light, and he felt the surge of power that came with immortality and his name was changed to the GhostLord

With his newfound abilities, The Ghostlord returned to the mortal realm, his lair concealed within the heart of the enchanted forest. There, he continued his experiments with the creation of new species, blending the natural and vampiric energies in ways that challenged the very fabric of life and death.

The Gulthias Tree, now bound to the Ghostlord, watched over him, ensuring that the balance of power and nature was maintained. In the shadowy depths of his lair, Reidoth, the Ghostlord, persisted in his quest for knowledge, forever tied to the vampiric essence that had birthed both him and the Gulthias Tree.

Two spells, used in a combination thought unthinkable by many, but worth of an eternity of study for Reidoth. These are Awaken and Alter Beast. The first of these spells lends sentience to any animal or plant creating a creature that is beholden to the caster, but incapable of reproduction, and were it not for that fault, the Awaken spell could make the druid like a god.

The second of these spells, Alter Beast, allows the caster to permanently change a creature through an incredibly painful process causing most to die horrible and painful deaths, but someday, maybe once it was perfected should allow Reidoth to create his one races of creatures. It is said this is how Owlbears and Displacer beasts were created though twisted arcane experimentation of this nature.
