I have come here to the oldest city across all of Consarcio, sent on a mission by the deans of the school in cooperation with the School of History in the College of Theology. It's my job as a master of written language and calligraphy to learn about the origins of the languages that exist within this world that we all call home.
From the first moment I began my research here I discovered something very fascinating, it was that all language as we know them currently originated from four original languages them being Celestial, Primordial, Sylvan, and Draconic. Many of those languages have changed over time, there is only one that has no proper derivatives being Draconic. Throughout the ages, it was seen as a perfect language especially in the Era Magical, with it being a common language that was learned by mages as spells cast with Draconic sigils seemed to hold better than in any other language. And Draconic is still seen as "the language of magic" by many of the common folk throughout the nations of Consarcio.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, the language with the most derivatives is Celestial. But there is a major difference between the derivations of Celestial compared to others is that these languages became entirely brand new unto themselves, and the way that archaic Celestial worked linguistically made it very easy for it to be fused with other languages to make brand new ones. The first derivatives of Celestial were Infernal and Abyssal, two corrupted versions of the language, but while Infernal kept a somewhat similar structure but different sound, Abyssal completely altered the language with it being known in the Celestial language as "Anti-Celestial" instead of having its own name. The next derivative that came from Celestial alone is a no longer used language known as Old Vinadan, and it was this language that would later evolve into the language known as Modern Vinadan or just Common.
The language of Sylvan and Primordial tend to fall into the same boat, with Primordial seen as the oldest language with the most archaic versions being the tongue spoken by the Titans in the Era Primordial. The evolution of Sylvan and Primordial as languages are intrinsically linked together, with those two languages having the most naturally taught speakers due to their stemming as languages that come from forces of nature. Primordial is the language of the elements and the physical forces of nature, with elementals and those with the fragments of energy from the era that has its name speaking the language natively. While Sylvan is a language that is the language of pure chaos but still has a bit of beauty in its script and verbal component.
