Battle Lines w/ Jane Hanoi

A excerpt from Battle Lines w/ Jane Hanoi

Hanoi: “This week saw the culmination of the decades long commitment of the self-proclaimed New Atlantis Government or creating a refuge for those wanting to escape the status quo of technology pervasiveness. On Wednesday, New Atlantis finished stage one of it’s massive artificial island structure and started to accept both initial backers of the project and the first batch of immigrants. It’s important to note that the site of the compound includes the old Ellis Island where the Statue of Liberty once stood—”

Berk: “That’s very important fact you brought—”

Hanoi: “One moment Mr. Berk, you’ll have your time.

Callahan: “Yes, Milo, perhaps if you weren’t so eager, the events of this week wouldn’t have happen.”

Hanoi: “Gentlemen! You will have your chances in a moment.”

Callahan: “My apologizes, Ms. Hanoi.”

Hanoi: [sigh] As stated, this opening was not without it problems. Three people were killed, including a young girl named Zelina Santos, when ductwork fell in the main assembly area and crushed them. It’s also been reported that there was internal sabotage of the generation bank on New Atlantic. This, among smaller rumors, has caused some to start questioning the “All Human” initiative of New Atlantis. With us we have Milo Berk, Secretary of Media and Marketing for the New Atlantis Government. Our other guest is Conner Callahan, Director of the Dvorovoi Cyber Association. Our topic: Can human exist in the modern world without any augmentations. The battle lines are drawn, gentlemen.”

Berk: “Thank you, Jane, as I was say—”

[Callahan shoots Milo Berk with a flechette pistol.]

[No blood comes from the wound and Berk becomes hysterical before the feed is cut]
