She entered the arena for prestige and wealth—she hopes to make a name for herself in Devanor and escape her humble background. Though she senses that Marrack is hiding something, she remains loyal to him, both out of fear and because she believes he can help elevate her status if they win.
For Selara, the arena is a stepping stone toward fame and fortune. She’s tired of being seen as a petty theif, and she believes that winning the competition will elevate her status in the eyes of Devanor’s criminal underground.
