Session 10: All Crust, No Filling
Khashana, Smig, and Dorbin head from The Proudheart Inn and Tavern toward the streets that skirt the edge of town. They follow the street, keeping a close lookout for anything unusual, and end up at the local cemetery. They poke around a bit and encounter nothing unusual, though they do cross paths with an old miser named Cadog. He talks with them a bit and asks them to remind Horse that he owes Cadog money. After the encounter with Cadog they make their way to Vorne’s bakery in hope of procuring some tasty bread. As the “chaos crew” is seeking ghosts and bread, Jeth and Ivy head from The Proudheart to Townhall, where they seek audience with the acting mayor, Wren Maddock. Wren greets them rather sheepishly and invites them in. He seems a mix of ashamed, frustrated, and sad when the two quiz him on the missing kids. He relays that the party should check in with the family of Elgan Begson, then first child to go missing, and whose father (Cad Begson) had bought the mystical white fruit from the traveling adventurers; they learn the names of the rest of the missing children: Ninian Colsten, Medyr Sollie, Tonwen Hetheros, Pew Killigan. They also learn that the actual mayor and uncle of Pew Killigan, Rouse Killigan, was the last to go missing. As Jeth and Ivy leave Townhall they see the rest of the party heading down a side street. Khashana, Smig, and Dorbin enter Vorne’s bakery and get some bread from Midrin, who is happy to see them. The party asks questions about missing kids, and Midrin is scared/hesitant to answer them. The party heads toward the Guild Hall. Jeth and Ivy have already made their way to the Guild Hall and secured entry through a series of tedious (and disrespectful) questions. Khashana, Smig, and Dorbin also secure entry. Khashana makes herself a lap cat and hangs out with Horse, while Jeth seeks audience with Guildmaster Ifan Zoza. After lengthy and circuitous conversation, Jeth’s read on Master Ifan is that he’s all crust and no filling… The circuitous conversation, however empty, does lead the party to two other persons: Cad Begson, the father of Elgan Begson; Lynn Bluesleeves (this name may have been partially different in game--sorry!), local historian and lorekeeper who may know about myths and legends of the Twisted Branches as they pertain to the mysterious "white fruit"...
