Session 13

Thursday 5th August

Land ho.

It's about 2 days away. Tohun Village, a small settlement here on the coast.

Numi approached Tallbeck after he just woke up and called him "Dangerously annoying" after which he punched him for "science". Surprised by the fact that his fist connected with Tallbeck's face, he apologized and left.

Numi was then approached by Nonu who heard the commotion, and after getting the explanation, she slapped him. "An eye for an eye", to which he showed bewilderment. This was seen by Mitr, who grabbed Nonu's hand a levitated up for her to be unable to hit him again, until she convinced him of her lack of hostility towards Numi.

In the queue to breakfast, we all started talking about the weird dream most of us had, and the fact that it was probably not completely just a dream, seeing as Verla had the mark of MacGreenFace on her elbow - a white cow skull. Verla also heard of the others' morning shenanigans, and after having grabbed some food, she also gave Numi a little slap on the back of the head as a sign of annoyance.

Tallbeck, at his genius height, decided that a little payback was due, and gave Numi a solid hit in the danglers. His words.

After breakfast, there were no more problems with hitting each other.

We consider how to approach Tohun and Inil’tuol, seeing as we don't know the language and they probably won't like us, being outsiders.

Otis tells us about an event called The Proving, which happens in winter, so it sucks that it's the end of Second Summer.

We approach the island and are met with a big challenge - the Shales and killer birds in red. They attack the boat in hundred fold but we ward them off even after being harrowed, the deck being covered in blood, and two crewmen died. Bird feathers, 2 birds, and blood is everywhere.

Verla picks up a feather, but otherwise, we make it past the Shales and the birds. From there, we have to wade inwards.

Tallbeck asks nicely if Verla can pick him up, seeing as it'd be a challenge for him to wade at the same speed as everyone else, and she agrees, telling him to be lookout from the good vantage point.

Wading towards Tohun Village

As we're 2 miles from the coast, we hear more splashing than just us. Something is circling our little triangle of safety.

The hunters in our group decide it's a good idea to keep walking carefully, then it might not attack.

We make it past the animal and are instead met with a rock throw of warning from an angry looking dwarf as well as an earth genasi, half-orc, and goliath. They are wary of us, dangerously so, and as Tallbeck tries to say that he also follows Gaun, by drawing the sign of him in the air, they almost attack us in fear of it being a magic spell. In the end, we barely negotiate that if we hand over our weapons and Nonu teaches them how to hunt with a bow, we're allowed to stay in the village for 2 days, and there might be another traveller who can translate for us, as the language barrier is steep.

Tohun Village

We are told where to camp and after getting it across that we need firewood for a fire, Verla is told to use a special whip for uprooting the younger trees.

The others are either making camp, walking around, or helping the Innilo learn how to use a bow.

As we are winding down and eating, one of the Innilo approach us and through a lot of misunderstandings, ask if we need someone who speaks Innilo seeing as we don't have that. He gives up and tells Numi to follow him.

What follows is him being led to another little camp in which a halfling, Tatiyena, resides.

He introduces himself and tells her that he needs to get away, but he needs someone who speaks the language more.

He explains to her that his companions : A devil asshole girl named Nonu, a man who speaks with the fish, Dago, a mammoth lady, Verla, a fast dark man, Mitr, and a little nice gnome, Toolbeck, are his companions.

She follows him, and introduces herself as Tatiyena, who's here on a mission to experience the lay of the land and such and that she's indeed not a captive and can carry her sword.

After introductions and some food offered by us, she agrees to go with Nonu to translate when helping with bows, and she is invited to join us in our travels around the place. She also has contacts who can find us some mounts, a few days away, so we agree to go in a group.

The next day is spent with bow training, we can wander around the village, and Verla walks around trying to get a feel for the area. She finds an older half orc gentleman, Utrick, who looks militarian, and tries Signal. He understands, and they have a conversation. She trades a combat whip of theirs for her metal hammer, and works on learning the ropes with that for the rest of the day.
