When the two towns were Close

The town of Selot is split in two. The island is based on soft mud and clay and is slowly being pulled from its original placement up against the mainland.

Thus the town is now known under two names: Selot Vual and Selot Jie - Eastern Selot and Western Selot.

To make up for the movement, the town has made a long bridge between the two parts of the city and there are boats going across the water constantly. Mages have been requested to help stop Selot Jie from sliding away, but none have been successful, its departure has only been either delayed or slowed.

As long as half the town keeps moving, the bridge will be extended but at some point it will be too difficult to extend it further from the mainland.

The bridge itself is long, strong and sturdy and is big enough for people to build houses and a street on it, so that is what is being done. It is a main road in the making, and an attractive place to live seeing as you are in the middle of town, literally.
