A knighthood named for the rare white rose of Cadrin, which is said to bloom in the wake of great battles, and to have magical healing properties. These flowers are said to be the favorite of the Phoenix, a mythical creature from Cadrin that were the favored beings/messengers of Xythys himself, and sites of their rebirth. It is rumored that Phoenix were the originators of fire magic, teaching it to the first mages of the land in the countries' earliest history.
Their main temple is not located in the city itself, but several miles away from Crookstone due to the concentration of refugees from Cadrin; a compound functioning as a house of worship dedicated to Xythys.
The leaders and much of the senior clergy of this sect are elves or other longer-lived races that hailed from Cadrin and fled to Ezeth following the Shattering. Given their memory of their homeland, the primary (mostly-unspoken) purpose driving this sect- and the reason for it separating from other established centers of faith- is to preserve as much of the history and traditions of Cadrin and its worship of Xythys as they are able. This includes establishing a temple and its compound, the structure of the clergy, and an order of knights meant to serve as their guardians.
They are genuinely a house of faith, and as such serve some facets of community: they take in a number of wards under their care, offer food and lodgings to travelers and those in need, and provide the standard faire of religious services for those who prefer them over other sites that may be within the city. Behind closed doors, they work diligently to create a record of their history stretching as far back as their memory allows. However, their notable focus on the culture and traditions brought from their homeland has created an undercurrent of nationalism that the officials within the sect’s leadership willingly turn a blind eye to; this has made it an unspoken gathering place for individuals with more radical views or lingering resentments.
The temple itself was constructed on top of one of the cliffs, at the edge of a bluff with a river and waterfall just underneath. The temple is the main building in the compound, but not the only one, with tall windows and open air walls to the east, and the functional buildings in the compound like the dormitories and barracks built around it. At the bottom of the cliff, several more miles away, is the underground holding cells, where they handle overflow from Crookstone and have a separate facility for 're-education.' There are some fields for growing basic crops, but the majority of their food is imported from Crookstone. In order to go from the fields and the road to Crookstone, one must hike up a hundred-foot tiered cliff. There are rest points, many with smaller shrines to Xythys as it's seen as a pilgrimage for layfolk of Crookstone and the nearby areas to go up and visit the temple.
