Infierni

Infierni are the unholy match between the demons infesting Imea, and the humanoid residents of Ilela. Over time, some demons have become more and more removed from the Underworld, both physically and metaphysically with the disappearance of magic, and a growing number are not the same as the ones that initially came through the portal during the Shattering. Some have broken off from their ruling Dukes, at great personal peril, and formed their own rogue groups, some are mistreated and abused within the active cult circles, or otherwise. It is a great act of resistance to do so, as a demon or devil slain within the Material Plane is unable to be reborn in their home plane, and with no soul bound for the mortal afterlives, they cease to exist completely, with no soul or spirit that endures. Despite the few that rebel, many retain their twisted greed and lust for violence.

They have a natural affinity and resistance to magic, though since the Shattering, despite the population boom, their talent largely remains dormant. They are naturally hardy, and tough because the weak ones simply don't make it. Whether born to an infernal parent who has defected or of one who is still allied to one of the Dukes, infierni face no small amount of hardship. Regardless of how much or how little they embrace their infernal heritage, they face a great deal of discrimination, despite having all of the free will and capacity for good that any mortal does.

Infierni cannot reproduce, they can only be born through the union of mortals and demons or devils.
