Before the Shattering disappeared magic, many beings from other planes roamed free on Ezeth. Elemental spirits roamed the deepest jungles of Imea and skated across the plains of Cadrin. Beings of pure elements and energy relished in the plentiful magic that once was, drifting between their world and our own. Much like the other extraplanar beings, the Shattering trapped the elemental beings on Ilela during the Shattering, and were targeted along with the Valkyries bu the devils and demons for traces of their magic that may remain in their blood. Elementals held a high place in society before the Shattering, as the archmage of extraplanar affairs is Azure Nimbus, an air elementi who organized collaborative magical research between the elemental beings and mortalkind.
Stripped of magic after the Shattering, many of the elemental beings were able to revert to a more humanoid appearance, with the children they sire looking primarily like their humanoid parent. There are telltale signs of elementin heritage however, in strange, oddly colored eyes, hair streaks of unique color, and a natural attunement to the elements that manifests in simple ways such as resistance to being burned, a lightness in the feet, or the ability to hold one's breath underwater for an abnormal amount of time.
Due to the subtle nature of their heritage, many of these children remain unaware of their lineage.
