What is in the small wooden puzzle box? Why did the beer suggest he take it? Why oh why did those Khazzak bandits tear the Squeaky Wheel apart looking for it?
A minion of Eagehrt in Wheedon Village recognized Dodgy. Actually, recognized Leymee. That can't be good. Not even close to good. Especially since Dodgy's room was ransacked that night.
For now, the problem seems to be solved. Eagehrt is dead and the lacky ran off in the woods without any gear. He's probably dead too. Who could survive the Margreve without any gear? Certainly not that guy.
There had to be a way to open that damned box. Dodgy tried to pry it open, first using the magical, Nail of Pointing, and then trying his axe Wolf Killer. No matter what he tried, it wouldn't open.
Soooo . . . first there was the prisoner who swore he recognized Dodgy but couldn't quite place were they'd met. That guy was a prisoner at the time so he was probably just trying to cozy up.
But then, in Whistlehollow, the Inn was plastered with missing posters of the guy who recognized Dodgy back in Wheedon. That wasn't the bad part though. The bad part was the wanted posters for Leymee, with the Khazzaks offering a reward. At least they wanted him alive, that's something.
So, it appears they know Leymee went to the Margreve, but not about his change of identity. Most importantly though, why won't that box open?!?!
All right. The box opened. And when it did, some operatives for the Khazzak bandits climbed out (the box expanded to match their size) and a battle with some tentacled monster ensued. Evidently this was their escape route. On the plus side, Dodgy was given a magic item as thanks for saving their lives. Although Dodgy stayed invisible the whole time so they never quite saw him, and couldn't report back anything about Lymee, errr, Dodgy.
Now, if Dodgy could just get the box to open again, maybe it would be a good escape if he ever needed it . . . .
