A walled compound, from the street it looks no different than any other lavish estate owned by a wealthy merchant. The most notable differences being the vast number of people coming and going and how many of them are gaijin.
Inside the walls it feels more like a miniature castle town than anything else. The tasteful, classical Rokugani architecture likely to meet with the approval of even the most discerning Crane courtier. In place of the expansive gardens one would expect there are numerous small, but well-manicured streets opening onto all manner of stores, restaurants, and workshops. As if an entire gaijin village was compressed into a city block.
Perhaps the most striking feature is the grand, arching bridge extending over Diamond Street and to the adjoining estate. The opposite side has a noticeably different feel. Although still cramped, there is more space and a small garden. The buildings are larger and more monolithic. It is here that the upper echelons of the Thrane both live and transact the official business of the Thrane Rokugan Company.
While the main entrance on Gold Avenue is open to all during most hours, entry "across the bridge" is only possible by either passing over the bridge or through a barred and guarded service gate on Onyx Street
