The Bonge's Place in a Greater Rokugan
What is the Bonge’s place in a Greater Rokugan? The Bonge are those who work, those who provide the means that the Emerald Empire sustains itself. Though humble work, without such labor Rokugan will not have goods to be used nor food to eat. These people have been placed within the Celestial Order by the Will of the Kami but they do not need to remain stuck in place, motionless in the cycle of life. Shinsei himself wrote that the Celestial Order is a model and that with training and ability anyone can reach enlightenment. What better way to set oneself on the path to enlightenment but through following the tenets of Bushido?
The Bonge should embrace the values of Bushido and strive to better themselves. A Greater Rokugan cannot be built without the unified spirit of Rokugani but a Greater Rokugan must be based on a code of morals. Bushido, as originally written by Mighty Akodo, originally was solely for Bushi but has since become the code of all Samurai. Why can't this be true for all Rokugani? Shinsei believed that all mortals can better themselves, so let us follow his example and strive to better our fellow Rokugani.
Just as a Samurai defends the Emerald Empire with his fighting spirit, so too should the Bonge strive to defend the Emerald Empire through the fruits of their labor. Following the tenets of Bushido will give the Bonge a moral compass that will form the strengthened foundation of a Greater Rokugani.
The call for men of virtue to rise and help forge a Greater Rokugan is not restricted by class or place within the Celestial Order. It requires the strength of spirit of all Rokugani to strive to be more than what we currently are. The Bonge are a vital part of Rokugan and must be prepared to do their part in providing for its future and towards a Greater Rokigan.
