Cat's Tongue

A flower with small pink petals that have a characteristically rough texture to them. The petals are often brewed into a tea that aids in falling asleep. Frequent use can cause headaches and difficulty sleeping without it.
Red-Bellied Newt

Found near a creek running through Hyobu's Forest. Handling this small amphibian quickly led to a burning sensation and slight numbness on exposed skin.
Ogre Horn

It's a monstrous creature from the Shadowlands. Surely there has to be some use for it, right?
Glowing Eels

Purchased from Whisper's shop, Southern Treasures. He claims that it is impregnated with the power of Lord Moon and eating it will provide "night-time virility" to those seeking a little insurance. After a few days the glowing appears to have stopped. Your suspicion is that it was due to something in the eel's diet that is not replicated in captivity.
Orange-Spotted Leech
Found in the swamps of Fukitsu Province on the way to Yogo Shiro. The wounds from the leeches bleed considerably even after the creature is removed. Perhaps there is some way in which this property can be isolated and harnessed.
Murakusa (AKA "Crab Grass")

Murakusa, also known colloquially as "Crab grass", is a prairie grass with a pale purple hue. It is found throughout Rokugan, but most concentrated in southern Crane/Crab lands. In its natural state it has no effect, but when mixed with crushed pomegranate seeds and grated ginger it becomes activated. A small portion of the mixture is chewed and kept in the mouth, chewing intermittently, until the flavor and effects subside, approximately 1 hour. Such use increases saliva production significantly leading to an increase in spitting, which takes on a dark reddish-purple hue along with similar staining on the lips and gums. A tell-tale indicator of frequent users.
It produces a short-term burst of strength and impairs awareness of pain, though it clouds the mind and reduces motor control as if drunk. A number of the soldiers on garrison in Oiku appear to chew it as a matter of habit, even when not in battle.
