A Short Month (also known as Only a Kobold) follows a month in the life of Bel Kuko, a recently unemployed kobold servant in The Grand City of Mor'Koc. Her ordinary existence in the lower echelons of society becomes increasingly strange as she realises she is trapped in a repeating month that resets every time she dies.
Over successive loops she fails her mage's exam and is executed for misuse of library tools; infiltrates the Imperial Grand Library under false pretences and is betrayed by Ka’zael, a blood elf summoner disguised as a human; joins the Stormblades adventuring party and meets new allies; pursues the summoner across Mor'Koc only to be assassinated by demonic forces; and ultimately witnesses the arrival of the time‑manipulating Thgrib Amall and the destruction of Mor'Koc. Each loop begins with Bel waking on the same morning, gradually uncovering the conspiracy behind the time‑loop, the plans of the gods and the involvement of various organisations including the Grand Order of Wizards, The Adventurer’s Guild, clerics of the Imperial Planning Department, and the Soul Mages of Mor'Koc.
Chronologically, this campaign follows Tale of Tir and Nox, Part I and is followed by Cursed Waters.
