The Mad Queen, Luciel I had a habit of turning the skins of her executed enemies into bindings for books to add to her library. The Codex itself is written by Luciel herself which was bound in the skin of Eoin the Wise, an advisor famed for his intellect who fell out of favour for disagreeing with many of her more extreme decisions as Queen. Its contents are various spells her personal wizards researched, many of which are extremely dangerous and correspond with Luciel's obsession with death.
