Currently embedded in Virion I Quinnlee's tombstone in The Great Henge’s central circle as to be illuminated at every solstice, this beautiful ancient sword known as the "Sword of Kings" is one of the most powerful weapons known to the people of Orth. Its origins, age and exact method of creation are all unknown.

Fragarach is a mighty weapon, about three and a half feet long; the blade is beautifully forged mythril with a damascus pattern, and a carved inscription reading, in an ancient text:
“In the Hands of the King I shall be free.”

The hilt of the sword is made from dragon bone plated in silver, and inlaid with gold and with a brass symbol of Marduk on the pommel. More inscriptions are embossed into the leather wrapping.

Fragarach is unique amongst weapons as it seems to have sentience - it can only be wielded by someone of its apparent choosing; the most famous of these are the ancient Elven hero Balor Drakenfiend and the first King of Tir, Virion I Quinnlee. Despite the inscription, it does not necessarily have to be a king but someone who is pure of heart, kind, just, honourable and will use Fragarach’s power only to help and protect those in need. Upon being drawn it is said it will magically link itself to the one who drew it, and remain able to be used by them and only them until the person either dies or proves themselves to be truly unworthy; at this point, it will magically return to its place in the altar, waiting for the next worthy swordsman to draw it from the rock. The sword is even known to speak at times - notably shouting in a booming voice "IN THE HANDS OF THE KING I AM FREE" when drawn, and "YOU ARE NOT WORTHY" when one fails to do so. The blade is also recorded to glow with golden energy when the sword is wielded.

Special: Only the Worthy

Upon Fragarach's blade is a runic inscription of an enchantment said to have been placed there by Jak'ra himself. The enchantment states, "In the Hands of the King, I shall be free." In order for one to be "worthy" that may be up to the DM. However, most wielders of Fragarach have been willing to uphold a greater good for unselfish reasons, been dedicated to justice and truth, been willing to sacrifice their own happiness to uphold it, and been willing to protect the weak and needy regardless of their race, creed or culture even at the cost of their own life. If someone who is unworthy but not Evil attempts to lift the sword, they will feel as though they are attempting to lift an impossible weight and the sword will not budge. If someone who is Evil attempts to lift the sword, they will take 2d8 Radiant damage and be knocked back 25 feet.

Upon being drawn from the anvil, Fragarach is attuned to the person who drew it until their death or the DM no longer deems them "worthy".
