Slát is one of the smaller castle towns of the Grand Duchy of Tir, and the castle outside it, constructed by Aolfie Cuinn in the early 2nd Age, is the smallest. House Cuinn have never been good at keeping their money, and with the party-boy Dálaigh Cuinn in charge of the family this has remained the case. As such the castle is small, with most of its structure destroyed during the Imperial Wars, and is now barely more than a tiny circular keep slowly sinking into the surrounding peat bog.
The castle was the central location of the Battle of Slát Castle.
