Moonweed

Consumable (alchemical)

Moonweed is a plant native to The Imperial Protectorate of the Kingdom of the Faerie Isle and northwestern areas of the Grand Duchy of Tir, which has been used in Leannite ceremonies for thousands of years and is considered a prominent piece of cultural iconography for the Fae peoples. The dried leaves and buds of the plant are a moderate psychoactive drug when ingested, which is usually done by smoking them in a papyrus cigarette (nicknamed a "blunt") or mixing them into food ingredients and eaten.

The effects of Moonweed are not dangerous, being mild reddening of the eyes, a decrease in spacial awareness, mild hallucinations, a feeling of euphoria, mild difficulty concentrating and an increased appetite (referred to by those familiar with the effects as "the munchies".) However, it can have a large positive effect on one's mental processes, due to the reduction of mental filters allowing them to think clearly without inhibition, though this can also lead to some embarrassing or mildly dangerous choices due to the other previously mentioned effects. It also has some painkilling properties due to the mild decrease in physical sensation, and may have some medicinal properties but research is still being done on this.

Moonweed is legal in most countries due to the harmless effects and negligible addictive properties. As such it is relatively common as a stress reliever in high-stress jobs and can easily be found in any settlement with a reasonably-sized Fae population.
