General Overview
Tekeli-Li came into awareness somewhere within the Old World, near the western border of the Duchy of Mor'Koc.
Due to the changes caused when a slime first evolves from its base form into the far more potent and self-aware Sothoth form, Tekeli-Li cannot state his age with any proper accuracy. Though he has confirmed that his evolution occurred roughly 22 years ago (as of the events of A Tale of Tir and Nox, Part 2), and the earliest digested memory he has access to would place his first kill of a sentient being, a wandering herbalist, at around 50 years ago.
As is common amongst Sothoths, Tekeli-Li's awakening has left him with a sense of remorse at his past actions, though this is tempered by the understanding that his actions at the time were truly those of an animal.
Additionally, like many others, Tekeli-Li has chosen to embrace some of the aspects, teachings, and skills obtained by his victims.
In his case, he has chosen the role of a travelling scholar and healer, dedicating himself to the study and treatment of injury and illness across the lands of Orth, relying on the memories of the fallen and his natural psionic abilities to help him in his work.
A Fascination with Disease and Recovery
As a Sothoth, Tekeli-Li is largely immune to most infections and diseases that plague parts of Orth.
This dichotomy between his own kind and the other races of Orth has become immensely fascinating to Tekeli-Li, resulting in a desire to understand the often complex biological mechanisms and changes that most creatures undergo when exposed to harmful conditions, and how the body recovers and repairs itself. Especially when affected through herbal, medicinal, and arcane healing methods.
Methods of Operation
As a Sothoth, a semi-gelatinous humanoid made of acidic slime and stolen memories contained in a thin, but durable, membrane, Tekeli-Li has had to travel and practice his trade and studies through unfortunately deceptive means. The natural abilities of his kind, along with the use of more mundane disguises, has allowed Tekeli-Li to cultivate numerous personas throughout The Old World and Tir that allow him to operate somewhat freely.
However, this has led to some trouble on several occasions after his identity was suspected, or even proven, to be false.
Fortunately, to the best of his knowledge, his true identity as a Sothoth, a largely unknown and newly emerging race, has not yet been exposed.
