Taratahi / The Lonely Isle

Taratahi / The Lonely Isle

During the late 2nd era, a small Yeti hunting fleet exploring the seas south-west of the northern continent found themselves caught in a freak polar storm and driven far off course. Being a hardy folk and long accustomed to the twin terrors of cold and open waters, the fleet managed to endure several weeks in unknown waters despite their now storm-damaged vessels and equipment. The fleet eventually spotted land and soon found themselves swept up on an unknown land. Their situation compelled them to disassemble the majority of their ships for makeshift shelters and defences against local hostile creatures.

Their settlement would not be discovered for 30 years as, at the time, the fleet had been thought lost. However, thanks in parts to advancements in ship construction and navigation techniques, an exploratory expedition was eventually able to locate the settlement, which was then confirmed to be located on the north-western coast of the central continent. Contact with the settlement has now been established. However, whilst the settlement itself appears to be secure from outside threats, a contagion of unknown origins appears to be affecting a portion of the Yeti population. This contagion, believed to be fungal in nature, is still largely unknown, as all samples marked for transport to proper facilities within the Dutchy of the Ice Palace have expired and broken down during transport, with only one infected subject surviving the voyage.

For now, while still a welcome discovery, the settlement, now renamed to Taratahi by the Yeti Republic, or The Lonely Isle by the Troll Empire, has been declared a plague region, with minimal contact to be maintained between them and the outside world. Additionally, exploration of the lands immediately surrounding the infected settlement is highly discouraged.
