Aesthetic: This port city is at various elevations and split into four distinct districts, which are otherwise known as the Basal. These districts are connected through various canals known as ‘ducts’:  pathways for gondolas to ferry residents, visitors, and workers from all across the plane to different districts of the Basal. The ducts have a series of locks that control the water level of the city, and the lock mechanisms or designated mages can raise or lower the waterways for passage between sectors. A hub of commerce throughout this entire region, Lacrima is known for selective exports, boat racing festivals, and diverse cultures.

The main attraction of the city is the Cauline. This city's holy site serves as a reminder of both a stained past and an abundant present. After his betrayal by his followers in centuries past, the god Pian flooded the city; the resulting catastrophe wiped out what was there.  Overwhelming divine magic coalesced into blessed water that ended up ushering in an age commerce, culture, and repentance. It is said the Cauline is also home to intense primal magic practitioners, but not much is known to those outside of the Dolorous faith.

Another marvel in the city is the Temperate Thread, an academy home to some of the most prolific divine and primal professors on the plane. The most prolific of Thread scholars are record keepers, relic coveters, and those that carry out magical civic duty in Pian's stead.
