Origins: The Chaosborn Wyrm
Long before the world knew law, Tannin was a force of unchecked destruction—a primordial dragon of chaos and untamed fury. Born from the raw essence of the universe, he reveled in wild power, consuming and razing whatever stood in his path. Mortals feared his name, and even the gods whispered of his unstoppable wrath. To this day, he is still feared by mortals. Not for the chaos he once embodied, but for the ironbound order he now enforces. Even among the gods, Tannin is spoken of with wary respect and whispers.
The Path to Order
Tannin’s downfall came not from an enemy’s blade, but from the treachery of his own kin. Betrayed by those he once trusted, he lay broken—a victim of the very chaos he had embraced. In that moment, he saw the truth: in a world without order, there is no trust, no true power—only an endless cycle of backstabbing and ruin
Through centuries of hardship, Tannin honed himself into a true paragon of order. He forged laws from his own chaos, shaping them like a blacksmith reforging shattered steel. His flames no longer burned for destruction but for purification, and his claws no longer tore indiscriminately but struck down those who defied justice.
He became the Dragonlord of Judgment, an unyielding force of law and justice. He is not a relic of destruction. He is its evolution.
Doctrine and Worship
Tannin teaches that law is not inherited but earned. Just as he transformed from a wild beast into a god of order, he demands his followers forge their own discipline, master their power, and uphold the rule of law. To him, law is the crucible that refines both mortals and dragons alike, shaping them into something greater. Tannin ask his followers to uphold the
Covenant of Memory. What it means is:
Memory – To forget is to invite chaos; to remember—names, wrongs, oaths—is to give shape to law.
Grief Refined – Followers are taught to transmute personal loss into disciplined service, just as the Dragon‑Lord forged order from betrayal.
Symbolism & Influence
Tannin's followers—whether knights, judges, champions, or warpriests—seek to balance power with responsibility. They believe that order is not static but something to be actively maintained. Most dragons and draconic creatures revere Tannin, believing his transformation affirms their destiny to be more than mere beasts of power—they are meant to be rulers, guardians, and arbiters of justice.
His symbol is the Dragon’s Eye of Judgment. A stylized dragon’s eye with a sword running through the pupil, the iris shaped like a scale balance. It conveys watchfulness, unwavering law, and the impartial judgment of a being that once knew chaos but now enforces order. The primary colors of his followers are midnight blue with the secondary color being silver. Some of his more tyrannical or authoritarian followers might wear deep red or crimson alongside dark gray or silver, symbolizing Tannin’s chaotic and darker past, as well as the blood of betrayal that ultimately led him to embrace order.
