Mystra was the Faerûnian pantheon's greater deity of of magic, which surrounded and suffused everything as The Weave. As evidenced by her moniker "The Lady of Mysteries," Mystra's dominion over The Weave was extremely enigmatic. She simultaneous was The Weave itself, providing the means for magic and magic users to create miraculous results, but also tended to The Weave, constantly repairing, improving, and expanding it. Mystra was believed to have been destroyed, setting off the events of The Spellplague. However, many argue that, by virtue of the fact that magic once again functions albeit in a different manner, Mystra must exist in some form, perhaps wounded, scattered, or otherwise diminished.
