Flumultria is a western Province in the Holy Empire of Acolytius, and it gets its name from the abundance of spring-fed streams that flow throughout it. The Province is dominated by sprawling grasslands, making it an ideal place for the rearing of the nation's cattle. While it is mostly rangeland or undeveloped plains, its cities provide the Empire with some crucial animal resources.

Cities and Towns

A majority of the settlements within Flumultria are rural towns, with very few large, developed cities. Below are the places you can go within the Province:

  • Azurmuth: Azurmuth is Flumultria's capital city, being a port city at the mouth of the Azuran River. Being located right on the Gulf of Mana makes the city an invaluable port, and a multitude of ships leave and arrive from the Empire's waters. Its economy relies on its exports of Flumultria's meat products and all sorts of imports that come in from elsewhere. Beyond the busy crowds of its ports, however, not much else really goes on in Azurmuth.
  • Sullenmere: Situated on Flumultria's southern coast, Sullenmere is built at a midpoint between the Gulf of Mana, the Bay of Bounty, and the Sea of Kings. It's ports really aren't that busy compared to the rest of the Province, and Sullenmere instead has appeal as an ideal beachside place of residence. It isn't uncommon to see local cattle ranchers spend their free time by the coast, oftentimes going fishing. The waves at Sullenmere's coast are also perfect for surfing, reflected in the city's regular contests.
  • Willow's Clearing: Willow's Clearing is a small village found in Flumultria's west, right by the border with Penoccida. Willow's Clearing gets its name from the abundance of willow trees found nearby, which grow due to the moist soil caused by a nearby creek. The village is quite small, and the surrounding area serves mainly as rangeland for various livestock.
  • Galestow: Located on the banks of Caerul Stream, Galestow is another small ranching town that primarily raises sheep. The town's name comes from the strong winds that blow in from the north, which has led to residents creating kites that decorate the town and attract visitors. The waters to Galestow's north are also known for their abundance of shellfish, although most shellfish harvesting occurs elsewhere in the Empire.
  • Hillsbend: Hillsbend sits far from Flumultria's coast, nestled among rolling hills. Hillsbend is one of the larger cities in the Province, and its surrounding areas are dominated by ranges for all manner of livestock. While mostly quiet and unassuming, Hillsbend actually has quite the fashion scene. Some very well-known designers live in Hillsbend and design the latest trends using leathers and cloths made right in the city.
  • Pilferhaven: Pilferhaven sits just near Flumultria's border with Tersodia and Minaltum, being located at the base of Skyfract Minor. The village's distance from the Provincial capital rendered it easily overlooked, and it earned its name for being a place that thieves could avoid punishment. While the law has tightened its grip on Pilferhaven more recently, there are still quite a few reports of robberies now and again.

Geography and Points of Interest

Flumultria's landscape is mostly undeveloped and uninhabited, giving way to a vast area to explore when traveling between its quaint towns and villages.

Almost all of Flumultria belongs to a region known as the Fields of Bounty: A vast stretch of pasture and grassland with the occassional stream or creek flowing through it. It was named due to its size, as early settlers has plenty of space to raise their livestock while also hunting the abundance of Impatrian Bison that are native to the region. Nowadays, a significant portion of the Fields are the property of ranchers living throughout Flumultria, but there are still plenty of areas where one can get lost in a sea of grass.

While Flumultria is full of various spring-fed waterways, most are so small that they don't even appear on any maps. It's only the larger, somewhat navigable rivers and streams that do so, the largest of which is the Azuran River. Located in eastern Flumultria, the Azuran River flows into the Gulf of Mana and allowed for the settlement of Azurmuth, the Province's capital and an important port city for the Empire. The Caerul Stream is another important waterway, being found in the northwestern region of the Province. While much smaller and less navigable than the Azuran, it has served as a key landmark for those passing through Flumultria. Once you see or reach it, you know that the neighboring Province of Penoccida isn't far away.

While none are named, Flumultria is known for its sandy beaches that stretch along its southern and northern coasts. These beaches are excellent locations to go fishing at, and many of them have strong waves for surfing. Most of Flumultria's coast, however, is undeveloped and far from the nearest settlements, so few travelers risk the danger of traveling to them.

Economy and Politics

Flumultria's economy almost fully relies on its livestock, with the resulting animal products being used to provide for the entirety of the Empire. Every city, town, and village within the Province has some number of ranches and pastures around it, providing an abundance of meats, leathers, cloths, and more. Most of these products are shipped out to the rest of the Empire, which has developed some cities like Azurmuth into large ports. These ports have led to a small yet significant fishing industry in Flumultria, although it is easily overshadowed by those of other Provinces. Even then, it still manages to provide for the people living within the Province.
