Cities and Towns

Being an urban hub for the Empire, Tersodia has some of the most developed settlements of any Province. Below are the various cities and towns one can visit:

  • Magnegris: Magnegris is the Provincial capital of Tersodia, being found upstream along the Cadsoline River. Being one of the oldest cities in the entirety of the Empire, the city attracts many due to its rich history. Magnegris also serves as a large melting pot of many cultures, due to both its urban nature and its centralized location in the Empire. The multitude of merchants within the city streets and farms surrounding the city have led to a diverse and multifaceted economy.
  • Traveler's Rest: Traveler's Rest is a smaller town, located just upstream along the Cadsoline River from Vatepor. The town has a reputation for being a 'pit-stop' for any travelers, as it's found at a major junction connecting multiple larger cities. Many shops and merchants establish themselves here, helping the countless individuals who pass through on their way to their eventual destinations. Outside of these attractions, many expansive farms stretch out from the edges of town.
  • Firthedge: Firthedge is a small town found on the eastern border of Tersodia, being a short distance from the neighboring Province of Towerfirth. Located on the Termina River, the town harvests many of the surrounding lumber resources from the outer reaches of the ancient forests while still having expansive farm fields. While Firthedge is known for being quaint and peaceful, it is often overshadowed by Magnegris due to the city's proximity.
  • Opalbrook: Situated on the banks of the Opalin River, Opalbrook is a quaint little town known for its vineyards and orchards. Being in the heart of the Emerald Forest brings its fair share of visitors, as many will visit in the autumn months to watch the leaves change and enjoy local fruits and wines.
  • Emeraldshore: Emeraldshore is a city located on the shores of the Emerald Lake, taking advantage of the many fish in the lake's waters. The city is known for its annual fishing festival, which attracts many to partake in its contests.
  • Talonforge: Talonforge sits at the base of Skyfract Minor, and it was once quite the popular mining town. Once Minaltum became a Province, however, most chose to leave the area for the far more prosperous Skyfract Mountains. Now, Talonforge serves as an artifact of the Empire's past and a stop along the road for those in the region. The town still does have some mining operations, with most focusing on precious jewels.
  • Valaris' Point: Found on the isle of Maginia, Valaris' Point is named after Valaris the Mage and her establishment of the College of the Arcane. While small, the town has been built around the school and grown with it, and it now has a unique blend of cultures due to the amount of people who have come to study Magic. Many establishments here have a uniquely arcane flair to them, and the town often is the location of great achievements and talented magic-users.

Points of Interest

Being the central Province of the Empire puts Tersodia in a diverse landscape, with a multitude of natural features and landmarks to explore between its many settlements.

Easily the most notable of these features are the Verdant Plains. Found spanning a majority of Tersodia, the Verdant Plains are an expanse of fertile fields that have historically provided a majority of food to the Empire. Its fertility comes from the many rivers flowing through it, which have countless farms stretching around them. In areas where the windmills don't stand tall against the surrounding landscape, the grasses are seemingly unending.

Tersodia is also known for its many rivers and streams, most of which flow through the Verdant Plains to make them so fertile. The largest and most integral to the Province is the Cadsoline River, which flows through the center of the Province and out along the Cadsoline Peninsula. Many large cities are built on the banks of the Cadsoline and its tributaries, such as Vatepor and Magnegris. The Cadsoline is not the only notable river, however, as others such as the Termina River and Opalin River have been just as integral to other parts of the Province. Their connected lakes, such as Emerald Lake and Lake Interim, are other notable landmarks for local people.

The northwestern region of Tersodia is noticeably different from the rest of the Province, as the expansive plains give way to forested hills at the base of Skyfract Minor. This region is known as the Emerald Forest, and the settlements here are known for their orchards, vineyards, and breweries. The area is also home to some scattered ruins, all being overgrown and reclaimed by the trees and ferns. Even with its local towns, the Emerald Forest attracts many with its beauty.

Finally, the island of Maginia sits off the coast of Tersodia in the Gulf of Mana. The local College of the Arcane attracts countless people to the island, with a unique charm found nowhere else. While the majority of the island is developed for the College and surrounding town, Maginia is still an idyllic jewel in the seas of the Empire.

Economy and Politics

Tersodia thrives on its agriculture, as its lands provide a majority of the Empire's agricultural products. The Verdant Plains and its many settlements have expansive farms with high yields of wheat, barley, and maize, providing more than enough for every Province and even surplus for exporting elsewhere. In the regions of the Emerald Forest, focus is instead put on orchards and vineyards that produce a multitude of fruits, such as apples and grapes, that are then made into fine wines. In its urban centers, such as the capital of Magnegris, the economy becomes much more multifaceted due to the countless merchants and artisans who travel here for business. They bring their specialties from all across the Empire and even beyond.
