We use the connections Bale has a member of the royal family to kit out with necessary items to fight the Fire Giants.
We head to the Kingdom of the Tiger Embassy, while we travel Codex tells him that he has the Ring of Mind Shielding – if he dies before saying the Master’s name to him, then someone needs to take his ring because Codex’s soul will still be in there. He can tell them the name.
We arrive at the Embassy and speak to the Khan. She is quite smitten with Bale, and Ban Chao doesn’t like this. Karsi is mildly amused. We mention the Quartet and Ban Chao says his first word. “Interesting”. He then says “remove the Khan”.
After the Khan is removed (she is very upset by this). Ban Chao reads the contract. He looks enraged. He doesn’t elaborate. When we leave, we speak to Karsi and she tells us that the entire embassy is now on lockdown, and the Khan is being kept from others for her safety.
We use Word of Recall to return to Lasthaven. Codex goes to speak to Rhogar at the orphanage, about the woman who lost her sight, her hearing, her voice to Sabre Khaludz. Rhogar points out to her, working in a field by touch, aided by others. Codex brings up Rhogar’s leg, and tells him that he wants to give him back his leg, in gratitude for all that Rhogar has done for him. Rhogar stares at Codex stoically and says “See to the woman.” This is a to be discussed conversation.
Codex heads over to the woman, and speaks to Vestian, who is looking after her. With Vestian’s help, he communicates to the woman that he means no harm, and casts regenerate upon her. Her voice, her eyes, and her hearing is restored.
Meanwhile, Bale speaks to Katla awkwardly. “I like you, Katla” he starts, and that’s not a great start. Bale speaks to her about getting to know her better. He speaks awkwardly but Katla seems to find it endearing.
The woman who was silenced speaks. Her name is Mary. She’s still traumatized by the torture she endured, but she has her voice back, her sight back, and her hearing back. Vestian tells Codex he’ll work with her on her trauma. But Mary is happy, and tearful. Codex gives his Uncle another hug and tells him he loves him, Rhogar replies “You did good, kid.” with his usual stoicism.
We find out that Katla’s maiden name is Cleves, it is likely she is an illegitimate child of the Cleves family, as she had the moniker of Snow. This means she has noble blood in her. Bale tells his father this through a Sending.
We prepare to teleport to the Giants in the evening.
