Saving Sygmond

Kingston

We rest and recuperate at Bale’s estate.  While going over our treasure, we realize that we have found the lost royal jewelry of the Queens of the Southern Kingdom, Ceciliy’s great great grandmother’s, to be specific it was Elanna Kyngstowne.

We identify the starmetal morning star, and find out that it is “The Undoing” an artifact that is a direct conduit to That Which Lurks.

We speak to Gilbert regarding the upcoming debates. He tells us that we should go to the church and pray.  So we go there. Bale secretly meets with Queen Catherine, and tells her he has proof of a danger to the royal family. Queen Catherine tells him that she will do anything to keep the honor of the family intact, and this proof must be kept between the royal family and religious organizations, none outside of this can see this proof.

We work with Stephen Wrightson and make sure he sees the proof, so he can make a copy.  He makes a copy and will take it to Catherine.

On our way out of the Royal quarters Beryden sees Sygmund watching the royal carriage from her mansion, in the attic, in plain clothes.  He alerts us and Codex looks at her and reads her mind. He discovers that her mind is fuzzy, Codex recognizes the condition as drugged.

Able leaves the carriage and goes up to the gates of the Crown Prince and Princess. He asks the guard to speak to the Crown Princess, and the guard refuses. Codex reads the guard’s mind, and he is worried because he has to keep people out on pain of death.  And the order seems to be coming from the Crown Duke, by they way the guard is looking terrified out at the other building, where the Crown Duke and Duchess is residing.

We make our way back to Able’s home, and plan to rescue Sygmund. Berdyn, Maud and Simon will fly to the window at night, while Codex and Able travel to the Thirsty Cleric Inn to hand out a lot of money to the poor and be very visible.

Codex arranges for his family to protect Able and him from overeager poor people, using a Sending to Flint. He agrees to protect us for 100 platinum.

Sygmund is rescued, she was manacled and drugged, and locked in her room. Simon cures the poison of the drugging and speaks to her, asking if they can rescue her. Sygmund agrees, and they get her out of there and to safety. They go to the citadel of St. Cuthbert.

Meanwhile, Able throws 5000 copper coins out at the populace, while Flint, Tyrana, and Jynx and Codex keep Able alive from the eager crowd. They prevent the crowd from rioting. Afterwards, Codex and Able head to the Citadel of St. Cuthbert.

Simon speaks to the Inquisitor, keeping him up to date on what is happening. Able then speaks to Sygmund about what happens. She remembers that she was at the King’s funeral, and the theft of Pyrrhos’ body. Able tells her who plotted against the royal family, revealing that Antony and Isabel were responsible. Codex notices that her reaction, very slight, indicated that she suspected as much.

She asks Able to give her some privacy, and we leave her to the safety of the Citadel. We return to Able’s estate. Able speaks to Gilbert, who is both proud and angry at Able’s actions, proud because it was awesome, and angry because he didn’t tell his father.  He asks Able to bring Katla to their Estate, so that Emma can be distracted from her being worried about her sons and husband and succession.
