KINGSTON

We head to the Palace, and then Able leaves with the rest of the Royal candidates to vote. When he leaves, it turns out that he is plane shifted elsewhere

It turns out that Able and the Royals are taken to Celestia. The Queen explains that under Pelor’s light they must choose a King. She says she is aware that there are teams of Assassins in wait, and the Cathedral was rigged to explode, but none of that matters because in Celestia, they are safe from all that, and the Celestials will stop any violence between the Royals.

And so the vote begins, meanwhile in the prime material plane the rest of us wait.

The first round has Morys and Cecily with the majority vote. This means that in the second round they can only vote for Morys and Cecily. The second round has Morys and Cecily with three votes each, a tie.

There are refreshments and then a third round. Again Morys and Cecily get three votes each.

Finally, the fourth round. And Morys gets 5 votes to Cecily’s one.  Morys is King. They are told to keep this information to themselves, only to their immediate people, no one else.

Edmund speaks up, saying that he will abdicate the throne once Morys is crowned king, disinheriting his line.  Antony is angry at this, speaking up against his father, but Edmund is unmoved.

Afterwards, Edmund tells Able and his brothers that he is going home, and won’t join them afterwards. He will wait at home to see if his son will kill him before the coronation, seeing if there is any good left in Antony. Sygmond will not be there, for she has no faith in her children anymore.

It is unlikely that Edmund will survive the night.

Gilbert takes us to a secret compound, an extradimensional space where most of the Royals are sequestered. Only Isabel, Antony, and Edmund are not there.

Able speaks to Sygmund briefly, who wants to live, but accepts the betrayal of her children and the imminent death of her husband. Then Able speaks to his grandmother about her family, and the grandmother realizing that she will have a lot of free time after the coronation. She wonders what to do next, perhaps she’ll help get her grandchildren married.  Able makes a hasty and polite retreat to bed.
