Deseragar and Back Again

Session

DESERAGER

We enter into the final area of the vault, guarded by two Eidelons. Using Bale’s blood, we are able to get through the door, and the Eidelons bow to Bale as he has the blood of kings.

There are two passages out, one leads back to the town proper, and one leads to up to the main castle. There’s one more vault beyond the Eidelons.

We speak to the Eidelons, the last person in here was the king of old, and he was with Faranth – an ancient Gold dragon, not seen in 200 years, a consul to the royal family. It is possible that Faranth is now in Gleamshore, which is the old Silver Dragonborn settlement in the Elven Enclave.

We also find out the Eidelons are guarding something in a final vault.  This is the Heart of Tiamat, the Adamantine blade known as Slayer, which was used to kill Bahamut, and The Key.  This is likely what Faranth put there for safe keeping. We should speak to Farath about these items before messing with them.

We head down the passageway back to the royal palace. This leads us to a study, and it contains another teleportation circle. There is a secret passage that leads up and up to the king’s personal chambers, through a very well hidden secret passage.

Codex makes an arrangement with the holder of the other half of the sending stone, to meet at the Carved Coin this evening. Codex uses Sending to contact Jynx, to meet her afterwards.

Then we teleport back and forth between the Summit and Deseragur, dropping off furniture and valuables. We contact Coletta and let her know that we will need skilled servants to pack some of the more valuable table pieces. She tells us that the King has asked to speak to Bale – several times over the next few days.

Finally, we return to Kingston, and Bale takes the time to visit King Morys.  King Morys is a little annoyed that Bale hasn’t responded (we just left after the coronation), and tells Bale that he is needed to make diplomatic inroads with the Dwarven Thane.

Codex and Berdyn head to the Carved Coin and meet with Christopher O’Lyne, the bearer of the Sun Sending Stone. He is a smuggler, and is aware of Bale Caldwin. He attempts to negotiate, but Codex just tries to hand him the full amount he initially asks.  Berdyn then intervenes, and they arrange for a reasonable deal while Codex looks on, out of his element.

He moves to another table after trading the stone for money, and Jynx arrives. Codex tells Jynx that he knows about what happened with his youth and his father’s rejection of Codex, viewing him as weak and wanting to kill him. Codex asks Jynx why Flint waited so long before leaving. Jynx said that Flint hoped Epiphany would have given up and come back to him, not out of love, but more because he viewed Epiphany as “His”, maybe the closest thing Flint feels to love.

Codex gives Jynx the sending stone he acquired. Codex tells her that she and Rhogar are the only two family members that care about him, and he wants to be there should she need me. Jynx asks the same thorny question, is Codex still part of the Cinnabar Clan?  Codex knows that doing so means he either has to view Flint as the Leader… or defeat him in single combat that probably would be to the death. He sidesteps the conversation, instead asking about Saber Khaludz.

Jynx tells us that Khaludz is hiding in the Undercity. Codex immediately offers money to for her to tell him where he is hiding, not understanding that ratting on other criminals is frowned upon.  Berdyn again intervenes, stopping the conversation short.  Codex goes in for a hug as they say goodbye, but Jynx isn’t there yet.  We’ll get there.

We return, and in the meantime, Bale and Maud head to the Teleportation circle in the Royal Castle in Kingston.  Maud memorizes it, and as they leave, The Queen Mother Catherine speaks to Bale about the upcoming resurrection attempt on the former Crown Prince and Former Crown Duke. She very much wants Bale to attend. Bale agrees.

Later in the evening we meet with Jynx again just outside the Royal quarters. Berdyn and Codex speak to her, and Jynx tells us that Saber Khaludz is hiding out above a store in the undercity, guarded by a group of mercenaries. We now know where he is.

We rest for the evening.
