KINGSTON
Today we meet Thane Cormac Brasshand. We don’t know the name of the Thane’s wife and daughter, that information isn’t available.
We prepare for the teleportation circle. When we get through, we meet a new Dwarf waiting for us. His name is Daermir Firehandle, consul to the High Thane. He greets us and leads us out into SouthSpire, we see the Thaneguard present in the streets and they escort us to the third level. There are a set of apartments, reserved for visiting dignitaries, and we are given a suite to use. The suites are massive, with their own kitchen and study. We settle in and then head out to meet the High Thane.
We are taken to the Thane’s underground palace. We head to the throne room and meet the Thane. The Thane immediately shakes Bale’s hand, asks him to call him Cormac.
He seems friendly enough, personable, direct. He takes us from the throne room to a side meeting room. Cormac apologizes about not making it to the coronation, and asks to send his best wishes to King Morys Elynbrigge-Lytton. He asks after Pyyrhos Elynbrigge-Alegan, asking to see him before we leave. He asks about who will be the Ambassador, and asks a bit about Inez Jendryng. He seems fine with her choice.
We will have dinner with the High Thane, the Queen, the High Marshals and Heads of the High Clans later on this evening. We will present the gift of the long lost dwarven crown prior to the dinner privately to the Thane.
We eat lunch at Flaming Maeve’s, who is unimpressed at Bale being Crown Duke. The Thanesguard keep an eye on us. We eat well, but not initially, Maeve ignoring us for a bit until a Thanesguard collects our food.
Afterwards we head to Ovina Silverchaser jewelry shop, filled with silver metals. Bale purchases another expensive gift for Lydia, a set of platinum combs encrusted with star sapphires. We talk a bit about SIlverchaser politics, and the ongoing racism of Trauban Silverchaser. It seems that Trauban’s health is slowly failing, he hasn’t been to the shop in a few months.
We then head out into the market and splash Crown Duke money around. Among this is the bookseller, owned by Bolar Burningarm, a half orc woman. We pick up some books.
We return to the apartment and get ready for dinner. Just before dinner, we meet with the thane to present the crown. We are taken to an audience chamber, and Cormac accepts the gift graciously.
He introduces us to Niswyn Brasshand, his wife. She seems to exhibit some degree of social anxiety and has difficulty speaking from being in crowds. She knows some things about Codex’s mother’s expedition, and wants to talk to him about the last survivor that returned and then perished.
We engage in a meet and greet with the three High Marshals, and the six clan heads.
We first meet Paramount Magmiir Lavafist, the leader of the High Marshals. Then High Marshal Regrigg Stoneflight, head of the Ministry of Knowing. Finally High Marshall Jendelle Coldtale, leader of Scouts and Underdark Exploration.
Then we are reintroduced to Daermir Firehandle, the King’s Consul. From there, the six High heads of Clans.
High Priest Thorus Firststorm, High Priest of Moradin for SouthSpire.
Then we are introduced to High Priest Lysmyla Silverbelt, High Priest of Berronar Truesilver. (Goddess of House, Hearth, Home, Love)
We then next introduced to High Priest Admor Froststorm, High Priest of Clangeddin SIlverbeard.
Then Highpriest Dalmiir Bloodfeast, High Priest of Hanseath. (God of Barbarians)
Then Farmond Lasthold, Head of Architecture and Engineering in Southspire.
Then Randur Goldbottom, head of the royal treasury.
Then Galrig Firstale, head of the social guild.
We are seated at the table. Cormac toasts to the ongoing relationship between dwarves and humans. The dinner is served in big platters “family style” and the dwarves pretty much dig in.
Towards the end of the dinner Able gives a toast, thanking his Host and the assembled Dwarves.
We are served desert, and Farmond and Randur, as well as Thorus make their excuses and leave.
Niswyn speaks to Codex about the survivor, a red Dragonborn, one of the Cinnabar Clan, that returned to Northspire and then died. He spoke to her about a vortex. He said that the reason he returned was to bring back some paperwork, paperwork he held until he died, and is now in possession of the clerics of Northspire. It is waiting for Codex up north, and Niswyn gives Codex permission to get the papers, and even speak to the dead spirit of the Dragonborn.
He didn’t say his name, his mind was fragmented. But he is interred in Northspire.
We make arrangements with Jendelle Coldtale to meet the next day, we are going to discuss the exchange with The Elder Brain, the chairs for the slaves.
We say our goodnights and return to the diplomat apartments. We debrief Pyyrhos on the dinner party, and then turn in for the night.
