The Red Storm Strikes

Session
July 2, 2022

LASTHAVEN

Codex uses an arcane eye to watch the incoming storm.  As it strikes in a wave of black upon a red sky, it destroys a majority of buildings in Lasthaven. Only the Inn, the Library, the orphanage and the Lord’s manor remains intact.

The flooding is rampant, and the ice-cold rain and gale force winds roll through.

We survive the storm, having to Word of Recall to the Library as the trading post is rubble and we couldn’t get out of the cellars beneath.

Codex and Maud, having exhausted most of their spells, rest while the others help out the townsfolk.

After Codex and Maud awaken, we survey the damage and make a decision – the town needs to be rebuilt in stone, not wood.

To get stone, we first use Sending to contact Xnxotzdxrc, asking him to help. He agrees. We then use a scroll of Gate to bring him forth. He will spend seven days digging up boulders of igneus rock, basalt and granite. While here he mentions that there is a vein of gems running through the town, some 400 feet down, and metals nearby. It makes sense why some people enslave Xorn.

Codex also asked him to bring a chunk of metal from the Plane of Earth, and he brings a chunk of Zinc. Codex now has attuned metal for the Plane of Earth, which he can get fashioned into a rod for Plane Shifting.

We arrange to keep him fed (he really likes Silver) and will return him home at the end of seven days.

We teleport to the Summit and have to drain it of water, finding out the extradimensional space will only accept water if one of us walks partially through, it acts as a membrane, only parting when someone crosses through.

We return Mouse, Brute, Xenth’r, and the various animals back to the Tower. We then go to Kingston and survey the damage. The poor quarter is devastated, both from a storm and from an explosion that wiped out 5 blocks during the storm. It resulted in flooding of the undercity.

Codex contacts his sister Jynx and hands her the ring with one wish. He asks her about the explosion, and from her understanding and rumor, someone tried to use an artifact and “undo” the storm, and it had devastating repercussions. Codex and Maud surmise that the storm may have resulted in unstable magic.

We then contact the Warlock Titania and the two silent mages. We make a deal with them to turn the boulders the Xorn collects into building materials.

Then Bale and the group head to Lady Lydia Cornwallis's estate and Bale continues to hold up the deception of the “secret affair” gifting her with an expensive jeweled tiara, made by Berdyn’s family. Enough staff notice for our purposes of continuing the deception.

We then teleport to Everlife and speak to Michael Sherkev. Everlife has a lot of stone buildings, so only the poor section buildings were destroyed, but they were in poor condition from the undead incursion. They need more people to help clean up and help revive the city.

We then go to the Kingdom of the Tiger embassy, find out that Karcsi is the only inhabitant. She explains that the Khan and her people were summoned by the God Emperor back to the Kingdom, and she doesn’t know what happened.

Bale uses a Sending for the Khan, and gets a response of grief. The Khan lives, but something very bad has happened. We will need to travel to the Kingdom to find out more.

We tour the rest of Everlife, Bale makes an appearance as Duke and glad hands.  We then return to Kingston and transport Titania and the mute mages to Lasthaven. We introduce them to the Xorn, Codex is careful to not say his name, and they will work together to turn the boulders into building materials.

We rest for the night.
