Planning for a party for the 14th of Sirencall.  Steward is planning it, we are funding it. Held at the central trading square, a day of food, entertainment and games.

Codex tells the Steward that Jacquette is still alive, shows letters from Lucinda Alegan. Steward confirms that the letters are written by Lucinda by getting other letters written by her to him from over a decade ago.

He tells Codex that a congressional of different faiths to confirm the lineage, if Codex is concerned that the priests of Pelor are corrupted.

Codex also hands the Steward a letter from Talis Hooks to Lord Pyyrhos Alegan, that talks about how “the package” is beyond his reach.  He shows the Steward the Letter from Talia Hooks to Sabre Khaludz, talking about “the arrangement”.

He shows the letter between Khaludz and Stephen Wrightson, talking about rebuilding Everlife, months before Everlife fell.

Codex shows financial records of Chaludz taking money out of the bank shortly before the Walls of Everlife fell, and Utopah Dayseeker doing the same.

He makes copies of this information for the Steward, and the Steward updates Codex on the Royal family succession, and his royal lineage he found in the Spire library.  It turns out that Pyyrhos is 3rd in line to the throne, because of several scandals that have made others in the line ineligible.  That means Bale, or Able – is 4th in line.

Anthony Elynbrigge and his sister Isabel Elynbrigge are in a romantic relationship and have fled to the Southlands.  The scandal has affected the parents, the Crown Prince Edmond will not take the throne.

Niclas Elynbrigge is gay and married an Elf, which forfeited him the line.  His father Morys supports the marriage and fought the forfeiture, which also cost him his succession.

So when King Tomas dies, Gilbert will become King, and Pyyrhos will be crown prince.  That means Able is 4th in line to the throne.

We go to Roland and drop off armor for resizing.

We head back to our new house and discuss.  Turns out Maud found out that a new set of ledgers were found, Hook’s own ledgers. It shows evidence that Hooks and Ferin Goldbringer were engaged in smuggling 500,000 gp worth of steel every year for the last 4 years, except for the year 2019.

Steel is rare, and isn’t made in the Southlands, because most of the mines are either played out or the ore is inaccessible.  Southspire and the dwarves are the only source of fresh Steel.  As a result, most people in the Southlands don’t know how to make steel, they just melt scrap steel to create new things.

The markup on this smuggled steel is likely huge.

Bale and Simon head out to the Tower that night after we have a nice dinner with Katla and Cynthia.

The dinner is lovely, and Katla is still sad, but happy to see us.  Too bad we will be leaving again soon.
