We go to the Steward and hand over copies of the information, and retrieve armor from Roland. Codex speaks to Vestian about confirming whether or not Able and Bale are the same person with a Divination from Pelor. Codex also asks if Vestian knows if there is a priest in Kingstowne that has his complete trust. He does – His name is Father Clarence, who is a vessel of Pelor.
Vestian does warn Codex that the fact that there are Bodaks and Spawn of Kyuss means that Orcus and Vecna are working together. This is really bad news, and he warns Codex not to bite off more than he can chew. Codex responds that someone has to stand up against the darkness. Vestian will let me know at dawn tomorrow what Pelor will say about the Divination.
The Wizard’s Tower, Banks of Lake Char
We head out to the Tower, and meet with Bale and Simon. Mouse, Brute and Electrum are there and greet us. Electrum has gotten big!
After some discussion we decide to put the leash that polymorphs those that hold it into a dog on the black pudding. We crack open the sphere and throw it on and then it transforms into a black mastiff. It has slightly acidic drool.
We discuss how terrible an idea this is, but the pudding dog is friendly. It gets along with Electrum. We take the dog with us. We store some of the more dangerous items into the Tower for safe keeping.
LastHaven
We return to Lasthaven in the early evening. We go to the White Star Trading Compound, and meet the prisoners that returned. We meet Frank, who is a White Star assassin. He’s a giant piece of garbage, a monster through and through. There’s Devon, who was a guard for White Star and intimidated by Frank into returning to the compound to steal items.
Finally, there’s a woman, who protests her innocence. It turns out that the woman is a Warlock, a mercenary who was contracted by Hooks to retrieve her ledgers. Her name has been sold to the Ancient Elder Creature from beyond the Gates for power. She is The Servant to That Which Lurks.
The woman attacks Codex, teleporting from her cell, but Codex manages to defuse the situation. He makes a deal with her, in exchange for a copy of the ledger, she will tell us where Hooks is currently residing. Codex agrees - It is some kind of tavern in the Extraplanar city of Sigil.
Codex also enters into Frank’s mind, and sees that he was with Hooks when she delivered Jacquette to a Dwarf in Southspire. The Servant of that which lurks is watching the mental attack with interest, and confirms that the Dwarf is Ferin Goldbringer. Farin was involved, and will know where Jacquette is.
