Kingston – R2 - Royal District of Prince Gilbert
We recover from the intensity of the Ball schedule from the previous evening, and prepare ourselves for another round. Colette tells us that the previous night’s reception has been mixed. The old guard Nobility doesn’t like Able at all, the younger nobility likes him, and the commoners love him. Colette asks if there is anyone that wishes Able harm.
Codex then explains to Colette the full theory and goes into some excessive detail on the Vecnan conspiracy. She views Codex as crazy and warns him not to tell people this. She will make inquiries on people like Talia Hooks to ensure that she is not attempting to assassinate us.
We head to Pyyrhos Alegan’s home, and explore. There’s a portrait of him, Lucinda, and infant Jaquette. Happier times. There is a locked door, beyond which is Jaquette’s room. It looks like Pyyrhos spent time in here, and there are several paintings of his family, his wife, his brother Able, and Jaquette.
We also find a history book on the Underdark, and the Dwarven nations. The Underdark book opened to a number of entrances, one of which is near Lasthaven, and one of which is in the Eastern poor section of Kingston.
It seems as if Pyyrhos knew that Jaquette was in the Underdark. If so, why didn’t he go get her?
We find a secret passage with a spiral stair down in his bedroom. It leads down to under the building, a door to a study.
In the study is a magic map – you put your hand on the map and say a name. We also find a magic hammer used to destroy the enchantment on harmful magic items, and a ring of Vecna. The hammer was used to try to destroy the ring, but the ring is not harmful magic.
The magic map – The map works as follows. You put your hand on the map, and say a person’s name. It will then show where the person was, where they have gone, and where they might go. It can be used twice a day.
The map currently a trail from Kingston to east of Everlife, then a fading trail north to the plains east of Lasthaven, and then a possible path in three directions – North to the mountains, East to the deeper plains, and West to the deeper plains.
We aren’t sure what this means, so we try to find someone else first. Bale tells Codex to say his mother’s name, and with a heavy heart, Codex puts his hand on the map and says “Cinnabar Epiphany”. The map shows a definitive line from Lasthaven to the mountains, and then through the mountains, and then to the Citadel, and then it stops. No possible routes. That’s where she is, and there isn’t a future.
After some discussion, we realize that the prior route was Pyyrhos using the map to find his brother. He used Able Alegan as the name, and that shows Able when he identified as Able, and then the fading of his identity, and then the unknown for where he would have gone.
We say one more name, Utopah Dayseeker Senior. And we see several paths between Kingston and Everlife, and then a single point in Diseregur. This means that Utopah teleported there! But why would he do that?
We take the hammer and the ring and put it in a golden box, burlap sack, and bag of holding. We try to take the map, but it is sovereign glued into place. So we leave it there. We also blank the map by saying a third name.
We have a short nap and then head to the evening set of Balls.
