Kingston – R2 - Royal District of Prince Gilbert
Able, Berdyn and Simon go to the Dawn worship in the grand Peloran church in the Royal quarter. They meet with Gilbert, Emma and Rin, and enter into the church. Berdyn and Simon go stand with the bodyguards, and the Royal family go to their own specific area.
Tomas Elynbrigge and Catherine Elynbrigge-Lytton arrive, then his Excellency Stephen Wrightson and several other laypeople begin the service.
Able notices that the Godson Theobald (Steven) Elynbrigge-Khaludz is here. He is all alone. After the service, Able then heads on over and talks to Theobald. Theobald is very polite, poised, and old for his young age. Able offers to take Theobald home, but he tells them that his Guardian is waiting outside. And so they go outside.
And sure enough, Sabre Khaludz is there. After a tense greeting, Sabre Khaludz and Theobald leave. But as the greeting is taking place, Simon passes Sabre Khaludz and performs a locate object for the ring, and the closest one is Sabre Khaludz. He has Pyyrhos’ ring!
As the Khaludz leave, Emma asks if Able would like to visit his brother in the tomb. Able agrees, and him and Simon and Berdyn go to see him. It turns out that the tomb has a carving of Pyyrhos, and it shows him with glasses. The spectacles that allow access to Pyyrhos journal were almost certainly buried with him. It also seems that his ring was on his finger, he chose not to keep the ring invisible.
Bale's Summit
Meanwhile, Maud and Codex teleport to the summit to get the evidence copied over. We spend four hours of copying the gatehouse logs, the cooked inventory of White Star Trading Company with the evidence of all the smuggled steel, several missives between Sabre Khaludz and others, and finally the letter of assassination penned by Sabre Khaludz.
It takes a long time. And just as we are about to finish, Maude tells Codex that she got a Sending from Katla Liondark using her half of the Sending Stone. A tornado hit Lasthaven, and there is one dead, two missing. Otherwise she is fine, and there is no need to return. Maude returns the Sending with questions on the dead and missing, and letting her know we will be away for a while.
We return to the church of Boccob and the Teleportation circle, pay our 100 gp and move into the Bazaar. As Maude and Codex enter into the Bazaar a thief steals the Ioun stone floating around Codex’ head. He almost gets away, but Maude shocking grasps him, and then takes the Ioun stone. Codex in a rage banishes the thief to another plane of existence for a terrifying minute, and then they hurriedly leave.
We then meet up with everyone at Able’s Mansion and prepare for the Ball. Able gets a letter telling them that due to illness, the Khaludz ball is cancelled. Odd considering Sabre Khaludz is a Cleric. We send members of the St. Cuthbert Billet to provide healing to the illness to the Khaludz.
We meet Chang Frazur, the merchant primarily representing the Kingdom of the Tiger. He is hosting the bar. He introduces us to Clay Lashway, a merchant. We also meet with Able Barb, a scholar who was happy to accept Able’s dinner invitation. He was one of the people we sent regrets for an offer of a Ball. Finally we meet Sean Anan, a merchant. He runs merchandise to the Desert Kingdoms of the South.
The next Ball we go to is held by Vern and Joyal Morely, Lucinda’s parents. They introduce us to Rider and Julian Morely, Lucinda’s brothers. Gilbert and Emma are there, and Able then dances with several women.
Jeffery and Bertha Fenwick are who are hosting the next Ball. They introduce us to Judy Cleeves and her brother Jahve Cleeves. Able dances with Judy. It turns out that Judy is Rosa’s granddaughter.
The final ball is Fredrick Cartwright. He is the brother of Margaret Lytton, the daughter in law to Rosa Lytton. Margaret Lytton and Charles Lytton are there as well. We then meet Videtta Cornwallis (Lydia’s younger sister) and her brother Alphonso Cornwallis. Videtta is quite forward and dances with Able. Alphonso stares daggers at Able.
Finally we are done. We return to Able’s Estate, and the Billets are there. Billet Michaels tells us that Sabre Khaludz refused entry, and didn’t let them in until it was a royal order. They saw that Theobald was very ill, sudden and fast acting. They suspected that it was an act of Necromancy, a Contagion spell.
So we go to Gilbert and Emma and tell them that we believe Theobald is being harmed by Sabre Khaludz. They agree to help and will speak to the King in the morning to ask for a royal order and have Theobald moved to their Royal Quarter.
We ask the Billet to return and report. And then we head to the map in Pyyrhos Elynbrigge-Alegan’ study. We look for Sabre Khaludz, and we see the map show us a number of travels between Everlife and Kingston, and a dot in the middle of the Northeastern Plains, and then another dot in Deseragar.
Then we look for Theobald (Steven) Elynbrigge-Khaludz, and there’s a mark from Everlife to Kingston, and then a dot in Deseragar. It is likely that they may have fled to Deseragar.
