Civil War

-050

I am Librarian Denal writing for Arch-librarian Keevan. War came, but the way it happened was strange. Arch-librarian had dispatched people across the world. I was part of one group, sent to the ruins of Riverton. The expedition was lead by Sulu, the True Immortal of Aeola. Arch-librarian Keevan had known him of old, and trusted him...to a point. That's why myself and quite a few others were with him, to keep him on task.

However, it is interesting how often The Arch-librarian has pointed out that what one plan was, soon becomes something else, and how often it is due to random chance. In this case, it was a night of drinking. Drogo Trill managed to find himself engaged to an Orc girl. Taking most of his friends, he ran away. He had bought a piece of real estate from Scragga, the Unkillable- a troll mercenary.

After defending the Precinct house from a seige of goblins, the leader of the small group, Balrin Blacksword, decided to rebuild Riverton. The group was small, but dedicated. Balrin Blacksword, Genieve Martel, Drogo Trill, Dane, and Marc Fumblemore. There were a few more of us, but those are the names that are remembered. Mainly because of what they did later.

Rebuilding was difficult, mainly due to the many different groups that already called the city home. It took battles, diplomacy, and trust to rebuild. The most difficult was the Mensa. There is some debate amongst Theologians about what happened. It has been told elsewhere. The book 'Walking with True Immortals', which is considered heresy by some.

However, the real turning point was when Balrin took his group of men up to the Dwarf kingdoms to rescue the dwarven Unforgiven refugees that had been bolstered by his clan. During that time he met Illum, and the revolution began. Illum was the real turning point. He was an Inquisitor, one of the Black King's most hardened supporters...but he wasn't. He was a member of the resistance.

Bouyed by the tales of rebuilding in Riverton, Victoria by that point., the resistance keyed it up. The resistance turned things. The White King heard about the resistance, and that is when things got difficult. The pressure built up, and exploded outward. In an unexpected turn of events, the South attacked the North.

Crynin was spared, from the worst of it, but there were still many battles. The most notable where the battle of the power giants in Crynin. The Seige of Elkton which drove the already broken Fumblemore insane, the Infilitration of Strangeways Prison for Political Prisoners, the Liberation of Corridor, The Capture of the Battle Turtle production facility.

It all ended with Balrin, Illum, and the White King leading some of the hardest warriors ever gathered into the lair of the Black King. It ended with the Black King dead, and the Empire United.

However, it only lasted a few weeks. The White King abdicated the Empirail throne, due to Illum's influence. The idea Fumblemore had for Victoria spread throughout the Human lands and the Great Republic was born. Peace had settled in the human lands, but it was coming to an end elsewhere.
